Home Is...

Shortly before Christmas, I ran across a saying that hit me just right. It was nothing totally profound or anything, but it was something I knew I had to do something with.

The saying was simply, "Home is where my boys are."

I have a friend with 6 boys. 6 amazing, wonderful boys. And I don't say that lightly. They are some pretty amazing boys and I'm still holding out hope one of my girls will marry one of these boys. (HAHAHA!)

Anyway, my friend is such a wonderful mom to these future men and I knew I had to do something with this saying, for her, for Christmas. I almost ran to The Wood Connection the next day. It may not have been THE next day, but it was soon after.

I got to work on this project shortly after Thanksgiving and even though I finished it way before Christmas, I still got it to her a day late.

But, she said she loves it and she has plans to put all 6 pictures of her boys next to the sign. I couldn't have asked for a better thank-you than knowing her future plans with it!

Naughty And Nice

I don't really do the 'ugly' sweatshirt thing, but I like to get T-Shirts every year. A couple years ago, I was shopping with my Mother in Law and we found THE perfect t-shirt for my husband. I was super excited when we then found one for me that almost matched his.

Then, just recently, Trixie Scraps released a kit called So Ho Ho Ugly. It really is created around all those ugly sweatshirts people like to wear, but it works for so many other Holiday layouts. I had fun creating this simple layout with it.

And if you know my husband, you know that he is much naughtier than I am . HAHAHA!

Through The Year - Version 2

In all reality, this should be version 1 as it's the calendar I completed first, but whatever. You get the idea. 2 calendars....22 different layouts.

This is the version I did for my husband's mom. It's mostly just my kids and my husband and his brothers.

Through The Year - Version 1

For Christmas, for my mom and mother in law, I did the 'easy' thing...calendars.

I'll start with the calendar I did for my mom.

COVER: FAMILY

Because the calendar months only feature those with birthdays that month, I wanted the cover to include everyone, and the best way to do that was through individual family groupings.

SUPPLY LIST

JANUARY: WINTER'S SONG

My daughter happens to be the only birthday in January, so she graces January's calendar.

FEBRUARY: BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME

I had cheated a bit with January. Because I was doing two calendars, I used a couple layouts twice. It saved me some time. So when I started with my Mom's calendar I wanted to go with song lyrics. With my mother in law's calendar I was going with simple phrases and quotes.

So with my mom's calendar February starts with the songs. I also wanted to do non-traditional Valentine's coloring as the only birthdays in February belong to boys.

MAY: LIVE LIFE

I was glad that I was able to do a very feminine page for May. My mom and baby girl are the only two with birthdays, so it worked out wonderfully.

JUNE: SUMMER BREEZE

My parents were married in June, so I wanted to include that in some way. I found a great template that allowed for my parents to be the main focus, but I was also able to include those with birthdays.

JULY: I HAVE A DREAM

This was another 'cheater' layout. Originally done for my mother-in-law's calendar, it is one with a quote instead of a song. But that's what happens when there's only one birthday.

AUGUST: WHERE THE BLACKTOP ENDS

August always seems to be the last throws of summer fun and for us, it's usually when we end up camping. It's something our whole family seems to enjoy, so it seemed fitting to include a page about camping.

Definitely went traditional with this layout, but I enjoy Halloween and even though my mom doesn't care for Halloween, she does enjoy seeing the grandkids in their costumes.

NOVEMBER: BLESSED

November is THE MONTH of birthdays in this family. It gets a little crazy and it was a chore to find a layout that worked well for each of the birthdays, but I worked it out.
