Hero Up!

I might say this in every post that I label 'drawings', but I'm not really an artist. I enjoy drawing, but I definitely know that I have a looooooooong way to go if I want to perfect the art, but it's not really where I want to focus my attention - so it is what it is.

My great-grandmother was a beautiful artist and painted many wonderful paintings. My parents have had one in their home for as long as I can remember. I think somewhere I have a picture of it, but do I know where currently? No.

My daughter is showing great strength in her artistic abilities, so perhaps that artistic gene in our family skips a couple generations? Who knows...

Anyway, I wanted to update our family blog with the superheroes my kids really enjoy. I wanted to make each of them their favorite and I wasn't finding anything out there in the digital world, so I went about creating my own.

I used other pictures as a starting point, but freehanded my own images with pencil, went over them with black marker and colored them in. I then scanned them in the computer and did some editing in my photo editing software.

A closer look at individual drawings...and yes, there are some size issues. Not completely sure what happened....

Wolverine and Rogue are forthcoming...which really means, I plan to get to them - but it may never actually happen.

A Gaggle of Turkeys

Just in time for Thanksgiving comes another new kit from Trixie Scraps. It is aptly titled, The First Thanksgiving and it is full of cute embellishments.

I went ahead and made a quick layout with this kit.

Facebook...most of the time it's a time drain. Sometimes, and I repeat, SOMETIMES - something good comes from it.

I was on Facebook one day and in my feed was an ad for some baseball shirts. Our family is a baseball family and I absolutely loved the pictures my 12 year old got this year. So when I ran across this shirt, with an awesome quote on it - I almost bought the shirt. I used some self-control and passed on the shirt, but made sure I took a screen shot so I had the quote. (I still messed it up on my layout)

Anyway, here's a look at the layout:

Geeky

I was looking through pictures on my phone and ran across some I had forgotten my daughter had taken of my baby. He was wearing some fake glasses and I knew exactly the perfect kit for the photos. I had to scrap the page right away!

Free To Be Me

A new kit was released at Trixie Scraps and it is called Get Out The Vote.

I'm not a real political person, so I didn't really have much to scrap in the way of voting. But, because it is a kit about America the colors work well for an Independence Day page and that's the way I chose to take this layout. Plus, I couldn't resist scrapping pictures of my youngest little girl when I realized a paper matched her shorts and bows perfectly!

Sixteen

My next layout from the template pack Trixie released came from the template pack, Standing Alone Vol. 7.

We had recently gotten the kids Fall pictures taken and I wanted to do a layout for one of my boys. I decided on my oldest and got to work. I had planned to use lyrics from a Taylor Swift song, but quickly realized the song was Fifteen and not sixteen...I have blonde moments.

I then decided to just find a quote and went with it.

Sixteen is an age where nothing is set in stone, your whole life waits ahead and there are so many possibilities. I want my son to know that the future is his and he can be and do what he wants. Thus the reason for this quote.

Sweet Pumpkin

This layout was a Trixie Scraps CT assignment. I loved the way it came about. Trixie released some new template packs and had us each sign up for a slot in a certain template pack, that way we all worked with something different and Trixie would have a layout for each template pack.

The first one I worked with was from Large and In Charge Vol. 7.
